Overhaul Your Kitchen and Pantry Organization

First of all, you deserve to open up that pantry and experience bliss, a sigh of relief and to know exactly where to find that midnight snack!

Organizing has, more recently, become one of my favorite pastimes. Some of you may be able to relate, but I believe that it’s extremely satisfying to take a cluttered and confusing space and make it functional. It can be a frustrating process, but I promise the end result is worth it — and honestly, there are ways to make it enjoyable!

Personally, with such a busy schedule, reinventing my social life and pouring into relationships with those I love, it’s become really important to maintain an organized home. When I’m home, I strive to feel peace and balance — that gets thrown off when things are a complete and utter mess. Truly, I just like knowing where things are without having to go digging through drawers, cabinets and closets to find the one item I need. Can anyone else relate?

A major organizational project can feel like a daunting process, but the satisfaction you’ll feel once finished is worth it! These simple strategies have helped me make the most of organizing my kitchen and pantry space — and keeping it that way:

Start with a clean slate.

Take everything out of your pantry and visualize the space you have to work with. Oftentimes, with a clean slate you are better able to envision the potential of the space. When you are staring at clutter, it’s hard to visualize anything else. You can take measurements in this phase to ensure you find storage options that will adequately and functionally fit your space, making shopping more efficient.

Go through everything you currently have in your pantry.

Remember that brownie mix you bought last year, but never baked? If it’s expired, throw it away! If you are starting a new nutrition plan, give away any items that may deter you from your progress. If you will literally never eat it and it’s still fresh, donate it to your local food pantry! There’s no reason to keep something if it’s only purpose is to take up precious pantry space.

Decide whether you’d like to go with clear containers vs. fabric containers or baskets.

I love the stylish containers, boxes and baskets I’ve highlighted in this blog because they not only look good, but hide any distracting labels or potential clutter within. The containers and boxes I used in my home were purchased at HomeGoods, but you can find some similar options here. With these, I still keep things organized inside, but I feel better that things are hidden in the event items/products get out of order. Others really like the ability of being able to see everything and prefer clear containers.

Keep your eye out for products to help you organize anytime you hit the store.

Anytime you go to the store, check and see if they have any baskets or containers on SALE. You don’t have to do everything in one day or spend a ridiculous amount of money, so make sure to keep an eye out to find items you love. I recommend trying HomeGoods, Amazon, Target and TJMaxx. Remember, the best containers are clearance containers!

Buy labels or make your own.

Labeling alone can level up any closet, drawer of cabinet you’re needing to organize. With labels, everyone in your household will know exactly where to find various items, and more importantly, where to return things once used.

Listen to music that makes you happy in the process.

Have a new artist you want to check out? Beyonce dropped another secret album? Bet. Play something that brings you joy as you clean and organize your space. Who said organizing can’t also be a dance party? Make it fun and enjoyable — I guarantee the results will feel even more worthwhile once you’re done!
